When choosing your rental car, there are several factors you should consider before making your final decision. You should first determine what type of vehicle would best suit your needs while traveling in Fort Dodge. For example, if you are going to be driving a lot of miles each day during your stay, then it might make sense for you to rent an SUV or minivan instead of a compact car. The next thing to consider is how much luggage will be coming along with you on this trip as well. If more than one person is traveling together then it would be best if everyone could fit into one vehicle so that everyone can ride together comfortably without having to share space like they would in separate vehicles!
Once those two things have been decided upon then it’s time to start searching for cheap car rentals!
Fort Dodge, Iowa is a city in Calhoun County, Iowa. The population was 13,194 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Calhoun County. Fort Dodge is home to Iowa’s oldest courthouse and its largest state park.
There are conflicting accounts of how Fort Dodge got its name. One version states that it was named after General Henry Dodge (1782–1867), who commanded troops in the area during the War of 1812. Another account claims that it was named for General William T. Sherman (1820–1891) after he passed through on his march to the sea. A third account suggests that it was named after John Dodge, a farmer who settled there with his family in 1861.
The first settlement in what would become Fort Dodge was made by John Dodge and his wife Sarah Joice in March 1861 when they arrived from Illinois with their children and two hired hands to start farming on the site of what would later become known as “Dodge City.” This became known as Dodgeville until 1871 when it was officially renamed Fort Dodge by an act of Congress because there were so many other towns named “Dodge” around the country at that time (such as Dodge City).
