College Park is a city in Prince George’s County, Maryland, United States. It has a population of around 30,000 and is home to the University of Maryland (UMD). It also has access to Washington, D.C., via the Green Line of the Washington Metro system.
College Park was established as a town in 1890 by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O). The first railroad station opened on May 1, 1892. A post office branch opened on June 13, 1893. The town was incorporated as a “city” in 1896 based on its population exceeding 3,000 residents and its location near the University of Maryland (UMD). In 1899, College Park became home to the first horse race track in Maryland; it continued operating until 1904 when it was moved to Laurel.
The City of College Park has three historic districts within its boundaries: Downtown College Park Historic District; Fairland Residential Historic District; and Leisure World/Laurel Lakes Residential Historic District. Cheap Car Rentals Gaithersburg
