Cicero, New York is a hamlet in Onondaga County, New York. The population was 2,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Syracuse Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The area that would become Cicero was first settled around 1796. The community was formerly known as “Blossburg” after the Bloss family who were among its earliest settlers. It received its current name from Cicero Clark, an early settler who operated a tavern and hotel there.

During the 19th century, Cicero became known as “the town that built Rome”. A large number of Roman Catholic immigrants moved into the area during this time, eventually becoming a majority in the town’s population (though not necessarily in politics).
