Akron, Ohio is a city in the United States. It is the fifth-largest city in Ohio, and the 44th-largest city in the U.S. It is located on the border of Summit and Portage Counties and is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Akron was originally founded as a village of New Stone Age Native Americans who had been displaced from their original homeland by white settlers from Connecticut. In 1805, Daniel Burnham acquired land from them for $1,800. The name “Akron” came from this purchase: “AQuaR” (water), “R” (river), and “ON” (on).
Burnham moved to Akron in 1809 and built a sawmill on his property; he later sold it to Jacob Gudelius in 1851 for $1,000. The mill became known as Gudelius Mill or Gudelius Saw Mill. Cheap Car Rentals Canton
