Tigard, Oregon is a city in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The city was named after the wife of William D. Burcham, one of the area’s first settlers. For many years it was referred to as “Burcham” and was officially incorporated on February 29, 1915. At that time there were only three buildings in the town.

Tigard is situated in Washington County along Oregon Route 99W, approximately 15 miles (24 km) southwest of downtown Portland and 13 miles (21 km) north of Tualatin Valley Highway. It lies entirely within the bounds of the Portland metropolitan area. As of the 2000 census, Tigard had a total population of 41,475 in 10,859 households.
