Monroeville is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located approximately 15 miles east of Pittsburgh and is part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area. The population was 5,528 at the 2010 census.

Monroeville was settled around 1772 by Scots-Irish Presbyterians and named after James Monroe, who had just been elected President of the United States two years earlier. The first settlers were William Russel and his wife Mary McClay. They were followed by Andrew Henderson and his wife Mary McMillan, who arrived in 1773. Henderson helped organize the community and became its first postmaster in 1801.
