Frisco is a city in Collin County, Texas. It is located immediately north of Dallas and is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. With a population of more than 161,000 people, it is the ninth most populous city in the state of Texas.

Frisco was founded in 1872 by the International-Great Northern Railroad as an agricultural community to serve cotton farmers in the region. The community was named after John B. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, two real-estate developers started building residential subdivisions in the area.
